A #SP16 playlist

ScotlandVotes will be hosting many different articles and viewpoints over the coming months, but it’s also important to have moments of levity. This latest post is provided by Aidan Skinner Campbell who wondered on Twitter if someone had put together an #SP16 playlist.

Quick as a flash, we at ScotlandVotes asked him to make his own. Aidan will be campaigning for Scottish Labour over the next few months which may give a certain hue to his choices. If you have any suggestions for more tracks, just get in touch via Twitter or Facebook.

Aidan has helpfully put together the playlist in Spotify too.

The Orb – Land of Green Ginger

I like the Greens, I honestly do. They are very fond of flowers and vegetables though and you wouldn’t be surprised to find Patrick Harvie is handy with a deck of cards would you?

Public Service Broadcasting – Everest

As a Labour activist I have some sympathy with daunting, vertiginous heights. Canvassing in Scotland in January has certain similarities as well.

Dropkick Murphys – Legend of Finn MacCumhail

On the other hand, I’m totally up for this election. I stuck this on loop while heading to campaigning the day Kezia made clear that we’d choose an anti-austerity path by using the powers the Scottish Parliament has.

Street Dogs – Up The Union

The Scottish Conservatives message in a nutshell.

The Clash – All The Young Punks (New boots & Contracts)

One factor in this election we haven’t discussed much is the effect the swathe of young (ish) SNP MPs and their staff will have on the already formidable SNP ground campaign. A bit more money and a bit more time never did anybody any harm.

The Exploited – Rival Leaders

And one factor we have – it’s likely to be a very presidential campaign with the SNP, Greens, Conservatives and Labour all making their leader the centre piece…

My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult – Kooler Than Jesus (Electric Messiah Mix)

..Nicola, having been in parliament for nearly two decades and in power for more than half of that, has a bit of a head start on Kez and Ruth who are in their 1st term as MSPs…

Sleigh Bells – Tell ‘Em

.. Kez has had only a few months as leader to work on a party which, like England in Oslo in 1981, has taken one hell of a beating. Going to have to do our best to tell folk…

SNAP! – The Power (7″ version)

… that we want to use the power of the Scottish Parliament for good…

AC/DC – Highway to Hell

… however, it’s certainly possible that we’re stuffed.

Mungo’s Hifi & Pupajim – Bike Rider

Glasgow Kelvin is a very cyclable constituency and I’m likely to rack up a lot of miles in the next 3 months.
