The second of two polls of opinion on Scottish independence has been published today (Thursday 10 April) by Panelbase.
The study which was commissioned by Yes Scotland surveyed 1024 people between April 4 and 9 asking them how they intend to vote in response to the question ‘Should Scotland be an independent country?’ and found:
- Yes = 40%
- No = 45%
- Undecided = 15%
Excluding those yet to make their minds up, the poll suggests the referendum outcome would be 47% of the vote to Yes and 53% of the vote to No, indicating a narrowing of the gap between the Better Together and Yes Scotland campaigns compared to the findings of other polls.
The results sit in contrast to another poll carried out by Survation and published today by the Daily Record which registered current opinion as 44% to Yes and 56% to No.
The Panelbase poll also found that 53% of respondents would vote yes if they believed they would be economically better off in an independent Scotland, compared with 37% who would not and 10% who were undecided.
