TNS BMRB has released the findings of their third poll of 2014 on independence referendum voting intentions this morning (Wednesday 16 April).
The results of the 988 individuals surveyed revealed:
- Yes = 29% (+1 from last TNS poll)
- No = 41% (-1 from last TNS poll)
- Don’t Know = 30% (no change from last TNS poll)
While the results do indicate a slight narrowing of the No campaign’s lead, a closer examination of the previous polls from TNS BMRB would suggest that the No vote is in fact leveling off – being in the low 40s since November 2013.
Interestingly, the proportion of voters willing to vote Yes is exactly the same as it was in January 2013, which may suggest that neither side of the debate is yet delivering the defining message that may swing the all important undecided voters.
The polling took place over a fortnight ago which means that the impact of SNP conference cannot be measured and in between that time we’ve seen two polls from Panelbase and a Survation poll published.
